Jay Thurman
Artist | Hobbyist | Digital Art

If you care to know more, I'm a former freelance artist - (former meaning I tried to make it a carrier but it didn't pay off, mostly because I have a really low tolerance for bullshit and I got sick of people real quick).

Now I do art as a hobby when I get time, but free time is very limited because now I work a shitty factory job that sucks up most of my week. We're talking usually 48 hours a week and tack on 10 hours more just for commuting. When I'm home, I'm usually sleeping.

I have an Associate degree in Graphic Design, I used to do mainly newspaper and magazine advertisement layouts and corporate identity work, (typesetting business cards and letterheads) using programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and the now defunct Macromedia Freehand.

I don't do so much 2d work, or even draw anymore, instead I make 3d models, mainly sci-fi stuff - I love spaceships because I want to go aboard one and leave this stupid planet and the people on it far behind. Maybe someday, maybe someday...

The 3d program I use the most is SketchUp, I guess I could be considered a pro with it, but I still learn new things about it every time I use it. Sometimes I still use the outdated Bryce 3d just because I used it a lot years ago and still have it on my computer.

As for "real 3d prgrams" I know a little bit of Blender and 3d Studio and I've been dabbling in more sophisticated programs like 3d Coat, Modo and ZBrush which I'm still learning how to use.

Progress is slow as I have a short attention span, so I lose interest in thing easily especially if shit gets difficult, then I have to take a long break before I come back to it again.

I hope you enjoy some of my work.!
  • Listening to: my own music
  • Reading: minds
  • Watching: porn
  • Playing: with myself
  • Eating: shit that's bad for you
  • Drinking: ice tea
...I haven't heard a shot fired in anger in weeks.

I'm still on my 3d hiatus in order to work on music but should be coming back soon. I dropped a ton of money this time on some better 3d programs which I still have to learn to use.

I added two more songs to "Closed Circuit Holocaust" (songs #6 and #7) and afterward, someone actually bought a copy! Yea! My first sale! I guess I'm commercial now, well on my way to PLATINUM!!!!!…

Awe man! I don't wanna play Pokemon Go cause I like have to get up walk around and stuff. Jeez! Go outside too? Screw that!
Although I find some incredible designs people do around here and I find myself constantly being inspired by their wonderful work, I found more often than not that if you tell an artist, "oh your design reminds me of something from 'X' movie, or looks similar to so-and-so artist's work" they may get a little ticked off thinking you're accusing them of ripping someone off rather than being influenced by it. I don't know how to word a comment in a way that hopefully doesn't piss them off. I can understand if you were just one of 50 other people who've repeated the same thing to them and how that can get annoying, so if a image has dozens of comments already I usually don't comment on it at all. It's just an occasional dilemma I find myself getting into.
