Description

This is a SketchUp model of Dr. Theopolis, a computer character who appeared during the first season of "Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century" that aired between 1979 and 1981.

Theo, (as Buck called him), was depicted as a partially transparent circuit board that resembled a face, inside a round metal case. LEDs on the face would flash in sync with Theo's gentle-speaking voice. Lacking limbs, Theo couldn't move around on his own, so he was typically carried around by Twiki, a bipedal servant robot known as an "ambuquad" who acted as Theo's arms and legs when needed. The clips on the side of the case were attached to a lanyard around Twiki's neck.

Like other computer brains of his kind, Theo was also part of a computer council that helped advise the citizens of post-apocalyptic New Chicago. Theo acted as Buck's legal council during Buck's trial when the Earth Protectorate suspected him of spying for the Draconian Empire. Afterward, Theo was assigned to help Buck adapt to life in the futuristic society of the 25th century and occasionally assist him and his friends on subsequent adventures.

It seems people are enjoying my previous Crichton model, so I decided to share Theo - although the model I made has been available on 3d Warehouse since March of 2013. Maybe it's time to advertise him.

I haven't done, nor plan to do Twiki right now - if I did, he'll be a challenge since he's more organic in shape. I'll think about it.
